Description:

Located out of our Calgary office, the Pipeline Scheduler will report to the Supervisor, Pipeline Scheduling.

This important position is a member of the Inter Pipeline (IPL) Transportation team and is responsible for supporting the ongoing safe, reliable, and efficient movement of petroleum products within IPL's Pipeline systems.

The scheduler provides customer service to connecting pipelines, producers, shippers, and truckers to achieve desired logistics.


Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first lineofcall for new producers, shippers, and receipt or delivery facilities. Ensure appropriate paperwork is received and all various stakeholders are informed. Collaborate with Oil Movements Analyst to ensure paperwork is received to set‐up new batteries
  • Work closely with the Control Centre, Field Operations (pipelines), Maintenance Scheduling, Integrity/Operations Engineering, as well as the Pipeline Commercial groups
  • Complete weekly split process per industry timelines to ensure any minor imbalances or positions are avoided or addressed immediately
  • Build initial schedules rateably based on monthly nominations with consideration to upstream/midstream/downstream outages, turnarounds, or tankage constraints
  • Manage tank inventories by revising schedules from various receipt locations and to various delivery locations. Communicate changes accordingly to Control Centre as well as receipt and delivery location contacts
  • Coordinate and implement, with supervisor's approval, receipt restrictions, trade or delivery cuts, or other exceptional requests
  • Attend and participate in weekly maintenance meetings
  • Compile and analyze estimated and final throughput data
  • Complete various ahhoc tasks and assignments
  • Provide Cross-Training and Vacation Coverage as needed

Education, Skills & Experience:


  • University degree required, in a related field preferred
  • 3v+ years of scheduling experience
  • Understanding of crude pipeline logistics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills
  • Communicate effectively both written and verbal
Full time Monday-Friday
On‐call after hours and weekend assistance to internal stakeholders and external customers. This position is a 12-month contract role located in Calgary, Alberta.
