ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:


Working as an integral part of the Yúustway Health and Wellness Department, this position reports directly to the Senior Home and Community Care Lead, The Health Care Assistant travels to homes where clients require up to 8 hours of personal care.

Working from the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm he/she provides clients with care ranging from basic housekeeping to moderately complex medical assistance.

The Health Care Assistant requires skills and knowledge sufficient to care for mild conditions up to chronic illness (e.g. diabetes, heart and stroke, arthritis, colostomy).

They report to the Senior Home and Community Care Lead and may administer follow-up procedures if trained by a Home Care Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.

A moderate level of physical fitness is required to perform duties (e.g. walking, standing, lifting, kneeling, etc.).

This position will be based in either North/West Vancouver with occasional travel to the Squamish Valley; or based in Squamish Valley with occasional travel to North/West Vancouver for coverage or meetings.

  • Uses knowledge of the aging process and related health and chronic conditions to provide safe, competent care.
  • Provides individualized, ageappropriate, clientcentered care, with a focus on physical, psychological, social, emotional cognitive, cultural, and spiritual support in practice settings.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how the HCAs practice affects the overall quality of care provided to clients in the assigned work setting.

Starting Salary:
$53,456 - $59,624 annually, plus a comprehensive benefit program.
