**This posting is to hire one (1) permanent and one (1) term fulltime positions working 75-hours bi-weekly. The Term position will be for 1 year ending February 2024. Clinical Counsellors working in the Outpatient Counselling Program at Mental Wellness Substance Use Services. Eligibility lists from this competition may be used to fill other permanent and term positions.
**Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services (MWSUS) provides trauma-informed mental healthcare to Yukoners across a spectrum of needs. We employ a large, supportive, experienced, and welcoming group of clinicians working across several client group areas (youth, mental health nursing, adult outpatient, adult live-in, rural communities).

This position is to provide a clinical counselling service on an outpatient basis in Whitehorse. This team is welcoming, kind, compassionate, and has a fantastic sense of humour. We're excited to meet you


In this program, we provide group and individual counselling for a variety of needs for Yukoners aged 18 and older.

As a Clinical Counsellor, you will provide assessment and treatment services, and some case management, to clients struggling with addiction and mental health concerns on an outpatient basis.

You should expect to be participating in individual therapy, the facilitation of psychoeducational groups, and peer consultation weekly.

The environment is supportive and kind, with a lovely team who work very hard to support the diverse range of clients.

We provide training and professional development opportunities often as part of the position, and you will have access to regular clinical supervision.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Ensure a month/year format is used for each work experience. Please note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Master's degree in social sciences, Social Work, Counselling, or other equivalent/related disciplines as determined by the hiring board
  • Experience providing assessment, treatment planning, referral, and case management for adults over the age of 1
  • Experience, and comfort with, delivering individual counselling/treatment and groupbased counseling
  • Knowledge and practise facilitating DBT individual and group programming is an asset

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Suitability

  • Significant experience working with marginalised populations.
  • Ability to provide case management and treatment planning for a diverse client group.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective written and oral communication.
  • Interest or ability to develop and deliver groupbased programming.
  • Strong clientcentered, strengthbased, traumainformed practice.
  • Strong selfawareness and growth mindset to ensure the strong practice of selfcare; and
  • Ability to maintain professional and timely client records in an electronic management system
  • Able to monitor own caseload and workload to provide 45 clientfacing hours of service daily.

Additional Information:


Conditions of Employment

  • TB screening.
  • Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent; and,
  • Verification of postsecondary degree(s).

Job Requirements

  • Works with clients experiencing strong and at times serious emotions and situational challenges.
  • Work with clients experiencing suicidal ideation.
  • Works with clients who use drugs and alcohol. Facilitate therapeutic groups and provide individual therapy.
