    Reportingto the Vice President, Academic, the Dean functions as an agile andfuture-focused leader to make an impact strategically and collaboratively in aculture of innovation and professional development. By exercising soundjudgement and decision making, the Dean will be a key member in driving NAIT'sVision, Promises and Values.

    TheDean develops strategies to meet the current and future needs of polytechniceducation and applied research by identifying and forecasting current andemerging needs, ensuring the Schools of Manufacturing & Automation andTransportationare globally competitive, recognized, and strategically networked.

    Alongwith leading the School of Manufacturing & Automation and the School ofTransportationto success, the Dean also serves as senior member of the NAIT AcademicLeadership Team, which contributes to the overall leadership of the Institutethrough participation in the development of academic and business plans,financial plans, and performance objectives.

    TheDean ensures the Schoolof Manufacturing & Automation and the School of Transportation areresponsive to the needs of industry, and students through achievement of thefollowing key accountabilities:

  • Providing visionary leadership to the Schools thatguides and supports program leaders and faculty towards a culture of innovationto meet industry needs and achieve student success.
  • Driving and advancing meaningful and effectiverelations with industry to effectively align the school with current, andfuture industry needs. The Dean will work collaboratively with:
  • Internal industry solution-focusedsupport areas to develop and implement the integration of applied research intoacademic plans
  • Local, regional, and provincialgovernments to position and enhance the School's presence and reputation withinthose arenas
  • Other institutes to create andcollaborate on partnership initiatives.
  • Advocating for funding to establish and maintain state-of-the-art facilitiesfor applied learning and research.
  • Developing and executing the strategic enrolmentmanagement plan, with focus on strategic and sustainable growth throughintroduction of new or renewed programming.
  • Championing institute initiatives that link academiclearning with practical skills development, facilitating seamless transitionsto professional environments.
  • Strategically developing and managing the School'soverall budget and providing strategic oversight of school administrativefunctions.
  • Providing mentorship and leadership guidance to othersas part of successional planning.

    • Along withexcellent communication skills, sound knowledge of academic and administrativeleadership functions in a post-secondary environment; and a strong desire todevelop others, success in this role is achieved through consistent andwell-developed application of the following core competencies:

    • Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree, doctorate degree an asset
  • Recent experience in a senior leadership role within acomplex organization leading a large, high-functioning team.
  • Leadership experience within an academic institutionas well as significant faculty experience within a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent sum of relevant education and experienceconsidered.

    • Remuneration : $140, $ 185,914.56 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
