    Job Description

    The Director, Media Excellence will provide strategic leadership on all aspects of training, learning and career development for the dentsu Canada media service line. They are an integrated member of the One dentsu North American L&D team. This role will be accountable for bringing together L&D, Operations, and media leadership across all functions in the Canadian market to support our talent in systems, operations, and media craft training. The individual will act as a liaison between client teams across CARAT, iProspect and dentsu X, as well as; Operations, Commercial Finance, Amplified, and dentsu Programmatic, HR, and dentsu communication teams.

    This individual will be an ambassador of media onboarding, training, and experiential event planning with the goal of creating engaging learning programs that set dentsu as an industry leader in people development for today's market needs and the future of our industry. At times the Director, Media Excellence will be called upon to support the Growth team with new business consultation. As a key member of the media leadership team, the Director, Media Excellence must have the ability to gain the buy-in from key stakeholders and to understand the business needs and priorities.     The role will report directly into the President, Media Service Line Canada, with a dotted line into the VP, Talent dentsu Canada. The individual will also be a collaborating member of the dentsu North American media Learning & Development community, and an active member of the Canadian Senior Leadership Team.

    Responsibilities:

    As Director, Media Excellence you'll be responsible for the oversight of the regional media training, learning and development activities by:

    • Collaborate with media senior leadership team on annual goal setting and create a strategy and execute the plan to bring training, learning and development deliverables to life.
    • Connect with the senior leadership team to understand our talent challenges and gaps.
    • Develop a disciplined program for training people to be 360 planners and 360 buyers.
    • Support the media onboarding program for new to advertising and experience hires that looks at their first year of experience with dentsu.
    • Coach teams on their development plans for team members and provide guidance on dentsu and industry resources.
    • Providing strategic guidance, thought leadership and operational assistance.
    • Work with media partners on bringing their programs to our people to upskill and grow our understanding of their platforms.
    • Support SME on thought leadership POV that are shared internally and with clients.
    • Source and manage centralized internal resources and/or outside suppliers.
    • Manage the media service line's L&D budget.
    • Implement and oversee many programs simultaneously across our companies.
    • Facilitate workshops and learning development both in person and virtually.
    • Measure and report on program engagement and effectiveness including evaluation of retention, career growth and productivity (in partnership with Media Operations and HR).
    • Lead employee engagement survey activity including analysis and presentation of results with media leads.
    • Contribute to building thriving office cultures in our main offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal through a return to regular live delivery of training activities.
    • Lead and facilitate Local Media Day across the country.
    • Fostering and cultivating an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork and maintaining a high level of engagement and motivation
    • Ensure French Language Laws are being adhered to through all training, learning and development activities.
    • Embody a "One Dentsu" approach to media training, learning and development.
    Qualifications
    • 5+ years' experience in the media agency industry
    • Experience in the training, learning and development, delivering successful engagement, and achieving results.
    • Experience with assessments and debriefing senior leaders.
    • Business acumen and leadership experience including setting the direction, establishing relevant KPI's, effectively planning and deliver against objectives, providing reporting and effective team management.
    • Possesses the poise, confidence, and presence to be able to deal effectively with agency leadership, external customers, vendors, and clients at all levels within the organization.
    • Radical collaboration. Open, learning mindset.
    • Flexible in adapting to and responding quickly to changing priorities and deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
    • Process driven, with strong project management skills: ability to effectively prioritize, execute tasks, and handle a range of projects simultaneously within a high-pressure, dynamic environment.
    • Self-starter with ability to think independently and work autonomously when necessary and a desire to succeed among fellow professionals.
