- Current registration as a practicing member of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course and recertified yearly as a condition of continuing employment
- Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care for this population and off service patients.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities, and complex patient care needs

- Be willing to obtain and maintain competency in the nursing care of patient requiring:
- PN - parental nutrition
- CVAD line - central venous access device
- Wound vac application and maintenance
- Palliative care education as directed.
- Geriatric care education as directed
- Care of the dying and family care
- Pain management courses
- BCMI within the first year
- ACLS within the first year
- Other medical surgical competencies as necessary
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or obtain within 1 year.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, as assigned, including weekends and holidays throughout the year.

As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and families on the Brunswick West inpatient unit.
