Overview of the RoleReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Automation Technician is responsible for the routine/preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment.
How you will make contributions that matter:
- Carries out preventative maintenance on robotics/ automation equipment
- Trouble shoots and repairs robotics/ automation equipment in breakdown situations
- Carries out equipment installations and modifications as required
- Makes PLC & HMI programming changes as required
- Optimizes robotics /automation equipment functioning to increase line speed and reduce machine wear
- Calibrates and maintain records for process instrumentation
- Repair robotics/ automation parts in shop
- Work effectively in a processing environment without jeopardising food safety
- Provide training to rest of maintenance crew on automated equipment
- Develop procedure for robotics/automated equipment to facilitate reliable machine functioning and fast troubleshooting. Develops safety procedures for automation/ robotics equipment
- Follow company policies and safety standards
- Works with other trades groups to complete project assignments.
- Available to work all shifts and be oncall
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance supervisor.
- College or university degree in Robotics/Automation/Electrical engineering required
- Experience with process and highspeed packaging equipment in a manufacturing setting is an asset
- Food industry experience is an asset
- PLC & HMI programming skills is required
- Experience in instrumentation such as flow meters, RTD and pressure/level measurement
- Good understanding of electronics and ability to perform simple repairs on electronic equipment
- Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge
- Blueprint reading plus understanding of PID drawings
- Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills.
- Boiler, refrigeration and air handling systems experience is an asset
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision but be a good team player
- High level of selfmotivation and initiative, willing to learn and good selfstarter
