Overview:


  • Reporting to the Ready Mix Fleet and Maintenance Manager of the Greater Vancouver Area, the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is primarily responsible for direct supervision and scheduling oversight of the Heavy Vehicle Mechanics across the GVA RMX business, at 3 workshop locations (Kent Avenue, Portmann and Clearbrook Ready Mix Plants). Regular work location will be Kent Ave plant, Vancouver. Additionally, the role will execute administrative and ongoing equipment related activities including oil sampling analysis, maintenance of data updates and integrity in SAP for the GVA RMX business.

Position Summary:


  • Provide daily and direct supervision of unionized mechanics on the floor

  • Daily inspection and supervision of fleet maintenance activities in the workshops, ensuring strict compliance with all health and safety rules and WCAN policies, mandates, standards and regulations

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas. Promotes a positive safety culture through front line leadership and accountability. Provide daily and direct supervision of unionized mechanics on the floor.
  • Develop and manage a process for standardization, oversight and optimization of scheduling maintenance activities on a daily basis
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is executed as per OEM specifications on HME in a cost effective manner whilst limiting operational impact on RMX plant operations and delivery
  • Develop and track KPI's to manage the fleet maintenance, availability and shop benchmarking on a monthly basis
  • Track fleet usage and develop and execute improvement plans if target availability is not met
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines across all areas of the business
  • Analyze SAP data for accuracy
  • Prepare safety documentation for the shop and personnel as required
  • Develop and maintain a critical spare parts and supplies inventory with mechanics
  • Support the service center in other areas as required
  • Produce KPI dashboard for each shop, recognize achievements and review improvement opportunities with every mechanic on a monthly basis\
  • Support In Vehicle Management System (IVMS) activities from a maintenance perspective
  • Local travel within the GVA and Fraser Valley region
  • Provide coverage to Equipment Maintenance Coordinator and Fleet and Maintenance Manager as required

Relationship with Other Jobs:


  • Direct report to GVA Fleet and Maintenance Manager
  • Work with cross product line Managers, plant managers, CCLC to ensure availability is clearly communicated and aligned with business and driver requirements.
  • Communicate with Procurement Group, Performance Group(s), and Basware
  • Collaborate with EM coordinators, Job Cost Accountants, and Operational personnel
  • Interface with SAP, IT, and Service Centre staff.



Salary Range:
$90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per annum

  • Diploma, or combination of relevant education and experience

Ideal Experience and Skill Set:


  • Red Seal/ Journeyman Commercial Transport/ Heavy Duty Technician an asset
  • 5 years minimum experience in Fleet/ Equipment maintenance or similar field
  • SAP skills is an asset
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and / or Google Sheets
  • Integrity and accountability
  • Experience in construction industry is an asset
  • High level of interpersonal, analytical and prob
