KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation, is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. This is a full-time position responsible for maintenance support to maintain, troubleshoot and repair all production equipment, while leading and directing assigned employees. The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee our housekeeping staff and have direct responsibilities for our kaizen team (continuous improvement), with initiatives utilizing semi-skilled personnel.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead and direct assigned employees to assure productivity, quality and safety goals are met;
  • Promote responsibility and accountability for a safe working environment;
  • Provide and implement goals to achieve department and corporate objectives with mínimal direction;
  • Monitor performance; spot checks work for accuracy and consistency; advises manager of performance issues;
  • Supervision of all outside contractors, skilled trades, etc. onsite under proper written authority, while on company property. Maintain contractor relations.
  • Upkeep of all services, including but not limited to hydroelectric, water, sewer, sprinkler, lighting, heating, and ventilating.
  • Maintain the structural integrity of all facilities.
  • Disallow any nonauthorized personnel from maintenance activities.
  • Source and purchase all infrastructure related items. Maintain supplier relations.
  • Serves as a member of the department's leadership team, providing assistance as required including participation in the Continuous Improvement Process;
  • Work with the engineering group to implement design changes of equipment, jigs, and fixturing for enhancement, upgrades or replacements as well as new plant layouts, moving of equipment and additions of equipment;
  • Work with the IT department for the implementation of production equipment;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Conduct all onsite handling, installation, and disconnection of equipment.
  • Perform all failuredriven maintenance and modifications to plant equipment and tools.
  • Provide material & labour resources to minimize downtime, which may include overtime, as necessary.
  • Maintain a rigorous preventative maintenance program.
  • Participate in the site's continuous improvement programs, leading the kaizen team effort.
  • Oversee the general and industrial cleaning efforts of the plant's housekeeping staff.
  • Maintain a stock of key items for each piece of equipment on the critical path, backedup by a predetermined source list of more costly items, with overnight/two day availability.
  • Lock out any equipment under repair, or quarantining for safety and repair.
  • Source and purchase, all tools (electric, air and hand tools) required for manufacturing. Source and purchase all parts for tools and equipment. Maintain supplier relations.
  • Attend (as required) ongoing infrequent training and development activity that may occur outside of Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess an Engineering degree or valid certificate of qualification as a Millwright or Industrial Electrician with experience in related fields or equivalent mechanical experience/aptitude;

  • Previous leadership experience is required;
  • PLC knowledge for upgrading and troubleshooting machine operation and software is preferred;
  • Advanced maintenance experience in carpentry, millwrighting, electrical, plumbing, welding, machine piping, HVAC and dust collection is preferred;
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems is preferred;
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, fluid power, building, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and prints;
  • Possesses excellent troubleshooting, reasoning, analytical problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), time management, organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Good computer skills: MS Office Applications, data retrieval, scanners, and MAPICS as it pertains to responsibilities including part entry;
  • Knowledge of safety practices such as lockout/tagout and proper use of PPE;
  • Strong customer focus;
