    Team

    ServiceNow Research focuses on both fundamental and applied research to future-proof AI-powered experiences. We are a team of researchers, scientists, and developers who work on laying the groundwork, experimenting, and mitigating risks of AI technologies that will shape new work experiences. This position is part of the dynamic AI Trust & Governance Lab, dedicated to driving breakthroughs in trustworthy AI. Our efforts revolve around building trust in AI through various avenues like safety, reliability, robustness, and security. We engage in research, experimentation, and guidance to enhance teams' approach to trustworthy AI across the company.

    Role

    Applied research involves translating concepts and methods from fundamental research into practical contexts, exploring ways to enhance their relevance and scalability for teams company-wide. In this role, you will collaborate with other Trust & Governance researchers in the field of trustworthy AI. Your focus will primarily entail addressing challenges related to large, generative models across diverse applications. You may be involved in training new models or concentrating on risk assessment and measurement for models developed by others. Success in this role hinges on your ability to swiftly grasp problems, propose solutions, and validate ideas. Effective communication skills are crucial within the Trust & Governance Lab to bridge gaps across research, product, and governance teams.

    Qualifications:

    • A Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience (preferably in industry) or a Ph.D. in a relevant field with 1 year of relevant experience;
    • Prior experience and a strong interest in trustworthiness-related subjects;
    • Proficiency in evaluating, benchmarking, and testing performance and risks in large language and generative AI models;
    • Knowledge of adversarial testing methods, including red teaming;
    • Hands-on experience with cutting-edge generative models for inference and fine-tuning;
    • Capability to develop prototypes of models, validate approaches promptly, and implement effective solutions;
    • Experience conducting literature reviews and implementing innovative solutions;
    • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, Hugging Face models, DeepSpeed, etc.;
    • Ability to independently manage large projects;
    • Comfort in navigating ambiguity, setting priorities, and delivering results in a dynamic setting;
    • Strong communication skills to convey research findings to non-experts; and
    • A proactive 'getting things done' attitude.
