Posted- 21-Nov-2023- Service line- GWS Segment- Role type- Full-time- Areas of Interest- Data & Analytics, Environmental Consultancy, Facilities Management- Location(s)- Vancouver - British Columbia - Canada, Victoria - British Columbia - Canada- JOB SUMMARYThe purpose of this position is to manage and support the implementation of energy initiatives across a large portfolio of properties, with a focus on natural gas efficiency and participation in the FortisBC Demand Side Management System.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsures that global energy and sustainability standards are applied throughout owned, leased, and managed properties within the account.

Enhances and updates annual Energy Management and Climate Action Plan (EMCAP) strategy and workplan, and reports on performance.

Responsible for identifying and implementing cost saving strategies and budgeting for utilities.- Create and maintain an accurate and current annual reporting with an inventory of natural gas equipment including new building projects, building transfers, and building acquisition and transactions- Monitors and reports on energy use and spending trends.

Develops and presents monthly energy efficiency status and variance reports to client. Create utility data analytics reports and dashboards as required by account team and partners.
Supports awareness and education efforts on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, clean energy, and climate adaptation standards and strategies.
Other duties as assigned.- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo formal supervisory responsibilities.

  • Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviours that are consistent with the company's values.
  • EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (BA/BS) from fouryear college or university. Five years of related experience and/or training.

  • CERTIFICATES and LICENSESCEM preferred.
  • Background in Sustainable Energy Management and Building Controls preferred.
  • Training and accreditation part of development and performance management requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including internal and external stakeholder engagement. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGERequires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Experience with budget creation, budget preparation, reporting and management.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIESExperience in working with mechanical/HVAC and electrical/automation systems including BAS. Experience with energy utilities and energy management. Carbon adaptation and resilience experience or training would be beneficial.

Experience with Energy Star Portfolio Manager or equivalent is highly desirable.- SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITYDecisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.

Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
