Manulife's Regulatory and Public Affairs team is looking for a Public Affairs Specialist to join us at our head office in Toronto or Waterloo.

The Specialist will join a global, multi-disciplinary team that coordinates across business lines and jurisdictions to engage on public policy and regulatory issues to ensure that Manulife delivers on our dedication to our customers, employees and shareholders.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Engage in research on a wide range of domestic and international topics relevant to Manulife's business.
  • Supervise and assist in coordinating internal partner reviews of emerging public policy and regulatory initiatives.
  • Prepare written summaries, reports, and briefings for internal audiences.
  • Coordinate the production of internal newsletters and other communications by capturing and editing updates from colleagues across the company and distributing to internal audiences.
  • Build and manage an archive of materials for use by the team and management.
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external collaborators to develop consensus, tackle problems and achieve mutually positive outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Several years of relevant work experience, experience working in business or government preforming research, analysis and report writing.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fastpaced environment, with hard deadlines and competing, highprofile priorities.
  • Knowledge of the financial services and insurance industries, business trends and emerging public policy issues is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, editing skills and the ability to communicate sophisticated issues into plain language.
  • Outstanding organizational and information management skills.
  • Strong team focus with an bility to work closely and collaboratively with teammates.
  • Collaborative personality, a thirst to learn and a passion for improvement.
  • Relationship building and maintaining professional interactions with internal clients, senior management, and external parties.
