Your opportunity:
The Partnership Development Officer will support the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering research community to advance the Faculty's and the University of Toronto's strategic research administration and partnership activities.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Partnerships, the Partnership Development Officer will work in collaboration with the Division of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI) to bring the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to achieve maximum quality and administration support in order to contribute to the success of the Faculty's partnership initiative.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
- Developing and implementing plans to support areas of research relevant to partnership needs that are consistent with the University's academic mission
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
- Developing and implementing strategies to maximize the economic and social impact of research partnerships
- Developing and implementing strategies to grow existing partnerships, both vertically and horizontally
- Liaising with internal and external contacts including a community of business development professionals across the University to prioritize U of T Engineering initiatives
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in anacademic or industry partnership and research environment
- Experience identifying, attracting and retaining major research partnerships with private, government and/or NGO sector partners
- Knowledge of research opportunities within Canada and internationally
- Expert understanding of Provincial, Canadian and International partnershipbased research funding programs, in particular major industry partnership projects led by university researchers
- Experience organizing and facilitating workshops and training sessions
- Advanced computer skills (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, Power point)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and marketing skills
