Clearpoint Surgical Toronto, Dixon Rd. is currently recruiting for a full-time
Facilities Maintenance Operator Monday to Friday, available on call for emergencies as well.

Position Summary:


As the Facilities Maintenance Operator you are responsible for the operation of major base building systems (e.g., boilers, chillers, water treatment, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, life safety, fire safety, elevators, etc.) on a 7/24 basis for 1 surgical facility.

Your focus on the efficient use of all utilities purchased by the organization and the operation of these services are managed by facilitating testing, monitoring performance and coordinating regular maintenance via contractors for the same including that of the Diesel emergency generator.


Working with the Director of Operations you will set annual goals and objectives to ensure compliance with legislative and professional standards including but not limited to building, fire, electrical and plumbing codes, municipal by-laws environmental legislation, operating engineers act, NFPA and CSA.

Responsibilities also include developing policies and procedures, standard operating procedures and establishing priorities for Facility Services across the hospital.

This individual will coordinate and ensure the quality of third party service contractors, manage the maintenance budget, documenting facility maintenance programs and forecasting of maintenance and capital budget items for initiatives and programs in this area.

Creation, updating and maintenance of a disaster recovery operations plan associated with equipment failure, water damage or physical destruction.

This person will be responsible for ensuring that minor daily handy worker tasks, repairs and building maintenance are performed independent of or in accordance with the Landlord requirements.


In addition to the above, you will work closely with Purchasing and Procurement and Environmental Services to facilitate all shipping and receiving tasks as a part of your daily routine performing cross-functional and other housekeeping duties consistent with the job classification, as required.


The Facilities Maintenance Operator must have a comprehensive understanding of OH&S regulations related to the operation and maintenance of the facility and the above noted equipment.

All Clearpoint Health staff are expected to demonstrate a professional and caring approach when dealing with clients, co-workers and supervisors.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum completion of a community college diploma program in Building Operations, Relevant Trade (e.g., Electrician, Mechanical, etc.), or recognized equivalent required
  • Graduate from a recognized Certified Trades program Engineering, or Civil Technologist program or completion of Bachelor degree in Health / Life Sciences, Engineering or Business Administration and a related postsecondary engineering program
  • Post-Secondary degree in building systems, engineering or other relevant discipline, or experience that would be considered equivalent (e.g. CFM, FMP, CET) preferred
  • Member of a professional facility management body (i.e. Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society)
  • Five years facility experience at the operations level, supervisory/management experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with building automation systems required
  • Hospital experience required
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, life support systems including: medical air, vacuum and oxygen systems
  • Knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, CSA Standards, ASME Code, Ontario Building/Fire Codes, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Plumbing Code;
  • Excellent organizational planning, time management, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem resolution skills required
  • Ability to read and write English and to interpret basic mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.
  • Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of industry standards, company policies and procedures (including internal "Codes"), financial control principles, hazardous and biomedical waste procedures and WHMIS and OHS regulations
  • Selfdirected and able to work effectively with mínimal supervision preferred
  • Must be physically able to do the job which requires frequency standing, walking, bending and lifting
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
