    Description

    Reporting to the Director of Hardware Development, you will design, develop, prototype, test and support the production of complete hardware solutions used to remotely control vehicle functions and track valuable assets via GPS. The solutions are composed of in-car devices, remote controllers, sensors, and communication apparatuses using innovative high-tech concepts. Your knowledge, experience and creativity will be instrumental to meet the objectives of time, cost, and quality, for the development of high-volume manufacturing products.

    Your Mission:

  • Technical
  • Participate in the definition phase of products by writing technical requirements, providing effort estimation, and participating in negotiations for the price and delivery of key components.
  • Develop electrical modules and test-jigs for automotive security applications. This activity includes schematics, BOM, PCB layout, and may involve complex cable harnesses, DC voltage converters and regulation, digital and analog circuits.
  • Ensure the compliance of the design to the applicable regulatory standards in force for the automotive security domain.
  • Confer with mechanical designer for the review and recommendations regarding form-and-fit, reliability, operation, and cost of the modules under development.
  • Plan and execute verification tests on prototypes and first production articles, including range tests between remote and control units, and stress tests under extreme environmental conditions.
  • Design and provide test-jigs along with test instructions for production and quality inspection.
  • Provide prompt support to car validation, installation, sales, customers, and manufacturing, for the investigation of issues affecting the production or operation, and for replacement of components as needed.
  • Process
  • Submit complete set of manufacturing packages for the release of PCBAs in the "Arena" documentation control system, as established by the process and templates in place.
  • Actively participate in the recording and approval process of the development life cycle.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and collaborate for the continuous improvement of process and procedures for the design, tests, and documentation, in conformity with the engineering practices and QA.
  • Adhere and actively participate for the continuous hardware process improvement.
  • Keep abreast of the latest standards in the automotive and regulatory domains.
  • Report and take prompt actions for any technical issues affecting legacy and new products.

    • You are the person we are looking for if you have:

  • Electrical bachelor's degree (BSc) or equivalent specialization, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with Altium CAD or similar tools, for the design of PCB schematics and layouts of digital, analog and RF circuits.
  • Theoretical background and experience with design, simulation, and measurement of Analog and digital circuits.
  • Ability to write Firmware scripts for automated tests. Experience writing low level applications to run on a microcontroller or microprocessor.
  • Quality oriented and ability to prioritize effort on multiple products and projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with good verbal and written proficiency in French and English.
  • Member or eligible at the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

  • Experience working with remote teams, such as contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, installers, and clients.
  • Knowledge and previous collaboration with files produced by SolidWorks CAD tool.
  • Experience with product design aimed for offshore high volume consumer manufacturing of automotive electronics products.
  • Experience working with "Arena" or any other similar documentation control systems.
  • Knowledge of testing and certification practices of regulatory standards such as ISO, FCC, ISED, RED and CE marking.
  • Design and tests of sub-Gigahertz Radio Frequency designs.
  • Advanced skills with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel calculations, functions, and formulas.
