We are currently looking for Medical Sonographers to join our team.

The Medical Sonographer will produce quality medical ultrasound images for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes upon the request of a physician, while ensuring the safety of patients, their family members, and staff.

This position requires a thorough familiarity of all procedures performed within their discipline/specialty according to established protocol and guidelines. The Medical Pediatric Sonographer requires a higher level of competency, above the basic designation. This position requires independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative that entail more responsibility and teamwork.


Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Produce quality medical images for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes upon the request of a physician while ensuring the safety of patients, their family members and staff
  • Provide technical interpretations and preliminary technologist reports
  • Perform a variety of US procedures in pediatric population
  • Operate and maintain all ultrasound equipment
  • Maintain accurate computer and image records including all required patient and exam information
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and participate in teaching students (casualstaff excluded)
  • Ability to work primarily Monday-Friday (84pm) with limited afternoon (128pm), evening (4pm12), weekend and on call shifts
  • Carry out delegated acts on behalf of radiologist when required
  • Correlate and convey the significance of patient symptoms, lab results and image findings to a radiologist
  • Perform sterile technique where applicable including intraoperative assistance
  • Assist with sedated and general anesthesia patients under the supervision of an anesthesiologist or a registered nurse
  • Perform post processing or analysis of image data
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise as required to ensure integrity of imaging/information systems and provide operational expertise to users
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, their families and hospital staff

Here's What You'll Need:


  • Successful completion of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (B.Sc. or diploma program)
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Membership with Sonography Canada preferred for liability insurance or equivalent
  • Paediatric experience is an asset, however, not essential. (Training will be provided)
  • Strong desire to work with children including newborns
  • Ability to communicate clearly, prioritize and organize
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ultrasound examinations will be conducted in department and bedside as portable
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with computers
