We currently have a
Regular Full-Time opportunity for a
Building Systems & Controls Specialist in the
Plant Operations and Maintenance at our
Bayview campus.

**Hours of Work: Weekdays: Days, 8hrs, As per schedule


Summary of Duties
Manages the operation and performance of the Building Systems

  • Manages the hospital's BAS and Air Balancing Service Contracts
  • Tracks BAS performance metrics such as number of alarms, overrides etc.
  • Provide technical expertise during design, construction and commissioning for BAS upgrades and new system expansions
  • Inhouse controls system expert provides problem analysis, issue resolution and assistance to BAS end users
  • Performs system diagnostics from systemlevel controllers to end devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, etc).
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
  • Troubleshoots, tunes and reconfigures PID loops and BAS control sequences
  • Providing regular and as needed training for Building Operators
  • Identifies and develops system optimization opportunities
  • Investigates root causes of system faults and nuisance alarms and makes recommendations/develops plans for system improvements
  • Assists Sunnybrook's Energy Managers to implement new control sequences for optimized energy use
  • Translates energy analytics into actionable results
  • Verifies building system performance through balancing and calibration
  • Performing various air balancing procedures
  • Performing various air quality tests
  • Taking air flow and water flow readings

Qualifications/Skills:


  • University degree or college Diploma related to building automation systems or equivalent
  • Minimum 3+ years of field experience maintaining/troubleshooting building automation systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys Platform & Components
  • Experience with communication protocols such as LON, BACnet, N2, etc
  • Experience with pneumatic and DDC controls
  • Experience performing control wiring installations and modifications
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of programming logic
  • Preparation of professional quality reports
  • Problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including: pushing/pulling heavy equipment; over 80% of all repairable devices are located in ceilings, mechanical rooms or difficulttoreach places, ability to lift 11kg to 20 kg
  • Building Automation Systems Factory Training Certificates are an asset
  • TAB Certification is an asset
  • Experience working in hospital environment is an asset
  • Professional Engineering License P.Eng. is an asset
  • May be required to work rotating shifts in emergency situations
