Geologist/Project Manager - Full-time (Halifax, Nova Scotia)


Pario Engineering & Environmental Sciences LP is a niche environmental science and remediation consulting firm seeking an Engineer or Geologist/Project Manager who is dynamic, motivated, and passionate about their career, to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Responsibilities:


  • Under the direction of the Atlantic Director, you will be expected to coordinate activities required for the effective progression of environmental projects while gathering information that will be used to evaluate the efforts undertaken.
  • Consulting on oil spills, phased assessment of environmental risk, asbestos abatement and mold and mildew assessments
  • Coordinate project(s) from start to finish including but restricted to the following:
  • Interface with other specialists, labs and contractors and affected parties to collect information and provide technical recommendations
  • Collect samples, test air quality, confirm exposure
  • Review site data and compare with computer models to assess the level of risk
  • Provide remediation recommendations
  • Site management and budgeting
  • Prepare preliminary comprehensive technical reports
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized college or university in a science program such as engineering, chemistry, environmental sciences, or geology.
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook & Excel)
  • 5 years of related operational experience preferred
  • Insurance industry experience desired
  • Aptitude to find creative solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong decisionmaking and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to discuss project budgets with clients and maintain continuous communications throughout a project

Environment/Work Conditions:

  • This position requires travel to sites primarily within the Maritimes, however possibly into other provinces periodically.
  • All prospective employees must pass a background check.
  • Willing and able to work in all temperatures and weather conditions, at height and in limited access areas
