Some Typical Duties:
- Under the direction of the Manager of Credential Programs, and in alignment with the Emily Carr University policy and governance processes, creates new and relevant programs and curriculum that are responsive to current trends and demands.
- In consultation with the Manager of Credential Programs, regularly reviews and assesses the quality of programming based on relevant measures.
- In consultation with the Manager of Credential Programs, ensures high quality program documentation practices and processes, and produces regular reports.
- In consultation with the Manager of Credential Programs, coordinates, and participates in fullcycle recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of instructors within the designated program areas, including supporting hiring, performance review, and recommendations for termination of instructional contracts in alignment with university policies.
- In consultation with the Manager of Credential Program, participates in the annual and ongoing budget review and assessment by researching, tracking, monitoring, and compiling relevant data to support budgetary processes.
- Under the direction of the Manager of Credential Programs, supports positive working relationships with industry, governing bodies, and other sectorbased organizations, including secondary and postsecondary institutions, to ensure curriculum alignment and best practices, increase revenue opportunities, and develop market potential.
- In collaboration with the Coordinator of Credential Programs, provides support to program instructors across all aspects of delivery and administration.
- In cooperation with the Coordinator of Credential Programs, coordinates updates and maintenance of program information and resources across communication platforms. Works collaboratively with CS Team and Communications + Marketing department on program content, and internal communications including the CS calendar, website content, and promotional materials.
- Supports and advises students on issues related to recruitment, admissions, learning pathways, portfolio assessments, academic performance, conduct, professional opportunities, and related student support.
- Supports the Manager of Credential Programs in the development and implementation of longterm strategic plans.
- Supports the planning and implementation of program and industryrelated special events.
- Participates in planning discussions relating to CS enrolment and revenue targets.
- Presents University offerings through info sessions, recruitment events, and public engagement opportunities.
- In consultation with the Manager of Credential Programs, works with Technicians to identify material and program support.
- In collaboration with Advancement and CS leadership, coordinates CS alumni initiatives.
- Fosters a culture of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) by remaining current in JEDI trends that impact their field of work and make recommendations to the Executive Director, Continuing Studies for improvements in support of the ECU community, and the strategic goals of the University.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in education or related field focused on art, design, or media. Master's degree is an asset.
- Minimum three years' experience in educational program development and administration /coordination, experience in art, media, or design preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively in teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of student engagement and studentcentered approaches to program design and implementation.
- Experience in course development and evaluation.
- Knowledge of instructional design; experience with online learning strategies is an asset.
- Knowledge of art, design, and/or media education and the BC system of advanced education, public training institutions and continuing or adult education is an asset.
