Opportunity
AIMCo has a great opportunity for someone looking to enhance their career in the exciting field of investment valuations.

This team is an essential part of maintaining a positive relationship with our clients by ensuring asset information presented is fair and accurate.


You will join a team of dedicated professionals responsible for ensuring that all investment assets and liabilities managed by AIMCo are valued on fair value basis in accordance with established policies and procedures.

You have the opportunity to collaborate with other senior analysts and become a trusted resource within the group. During regular valuation periods (quarterly and year-ends) overtime will be required. With this schedule, the team is very conscious and supportive of one another to accomplish group goals.


If you are an exceptionally organized individual with a keen eye for details that will provide a solid foundation for success in this role.

You will bring excellent written communication skills as you will draft memos and presentations with oversight provided by your peers and leaders.

Most importantly, the team is hoping for someone with demonstrated experience taking initiative to complete their duties or implement process improvements.


Responsibilities

  • Daily valuation of public equity, fixed income, and derivative investments
  • Create and maintain, and enhance valuation models
  • Liaise with various business teams regarding new product initiatives
  • Lead projects to enhance the control environment and/or efficiency in the valuation of AIMCo's assets with the support of your supervisor
  • Assist peers in private valuation activities where required
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related discipline
  • 4+ years of related work experience in valuations or a similar role
  • Possession of a CBV, CFA, or FRM designation is preferred
  • Working knowledge of databases and programming languages (SQL, VBA, Python) would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and generally accepted valuation methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn how to use new systems and processes
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Knowledge of financial markets, time value of money and Black-Scholes pricing model
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on information presented
  • An inquisitive attitude and proactive mindset
