Reporting to the Director, IT, the Application Architect is responsible to provide application architecture and designs. The right candidate will have a working knowledge of C# and Microsoft products. They will participate in defining useable application architectures, within the framework laid down by the collective enterprise architecture team, for business initiatives and current solutions architecture. In partnership with the Information Technology team, the Application Architect will provide oversight in the design and delivery of high quality, scalable and cost-effective technical solutions and will participate in due diligence services in support of corporate activities.

What you'll do:

Handle various projects across multiple departments with respect to application architecture.

Act as an application technology leader and subject matter expert

Contribute to the design of the enterprise IT Landscape for applications and the connection with business process

Assist project teams to identify the required application architecture that conforms to the overall solution architecture

Provide overviews and recommendations of application changes that may require modifications to the current enterprise architecture specifications

Provide awareness of application development trends and provides direction in determining their potential impact on the current or future applications at ESC

Analyze and troubleshoot application related issues in a timely fashion

Responsible for the development and maintenance of application architecture documents, functional specifications, design documents, and architecture diagrams in partnership with relevant teams

Responsible for maintenance of ESC's application inventory

Assist in yearly application posture assessments with both the technical and business teams

Knowledge & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or related field), or equivalent experience

Seven (7) years of experience in Microsoft development technologies; of which two (2) years of experience have been in Application Architecture, in a multitier environment

Knowledge of the application architecture discipline and an understanding of how it fits into the Enterprise Architecture vision and frameworks

Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments

Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation

Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories

Ability to provide short-term implications of individual decisions and then identify this to stakeholders

Ability to translate business needs into application requirements

Ability to estimate the financial impact of application alternatives

Ability to apply multiple approaches to business problems

Ability to handle multiple projects, be innovative, and able to identify their deliverables

Ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments and in varying degrees of technical detail

Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies and in particularly to identify the impact on the ISC enterprise in relation to the ISC strategic vision.
