Summary
The Apprentice Plumber/Gasfitter under the direction of Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter, will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs associated with plumbing, heating, gas lines and equipment of TechCanada.
The Apprentice Plumber/Gasfitter will be required to read, interpret, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints, and Plumbing/Gas fitting code specifications to see layout of Potable water, Drainage, Storm Water, Gas and Hydronic systems.

Job Duties
- Cut, assemble and install various types of pipes
- Install water distribution and disposal system in residential, commercial and industrial building
- Handle plumbing tools and equipment
- Complete finishing works I.E install toilets, sinks, showers, tubs
- Testing of piping systems though hydrostatic and pneumatic testing methods
- Complies with standards and procedures of industry, Safety Manual, and abide by safety rules.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using power tools.
- Cut and install hangers to hold pipes in place
- Secure pipes or related equipment, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints, dependent on specifications.
- Participate in all construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing or gas fitting changes and/or additions.
- Drive Company Vehicles.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Registered as an apprentice through the Alberta/BC Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
- Must be able to read diagrams, and blueprints
- Must possess communication skills, selfsupervision, and respect for safety needs
- Must possess team spirit, and be able to work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering, and out of doors services
- Must be ready to do overtime work if the need arises
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must have valid category five drivers' license
- Must be flexible to work outoftown when required
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allows one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
Work Conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
- Travel to offsite locations may be required
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
- Overtime as required
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- May be exposed to construction sites
Job Types:

Salary:
$18.50-$29.60 per hour

Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Apprentice Plumber/Gasfitter: 2 years (preferred)
- Residential Plumbing/Gasfitting: 2 years (preferred)
- Commercial Plumbing/Gasfitting: 2 years (preferred)
- Industrial Plumbing/Gasfitting: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Drivers Licence (preferred)
Willingness to travel:
- 50% (preferred)
