- Day-to-day tasks include identifying, recruiting, and consenting participants in studies, collection of completed questionnaires, de-identification of data and data entry into a standardized electronic form, and creation and modification of research ethics documents
- Conduct literature reviews, surveys, and other research for use in scholarly publications when required
- Assist with systematic reviews by running searches, screening abstracts, reviewing full-texts, completing data abstraction, and creating tables and figures
- Responsible for conducting study tasks according to the direction given, the research protocol and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Required to maintain active Tri Council Policy training (TCPS2), Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) and study specific training
- Includes administrative support such as scheduling and phoning patients according to the research protocol, administrative responsibilities and undertaking other tasks required by research protocol
- Screen and recruit patients into critical care research studies
- Data entry
- Bachelor's Degree, in health profession, epidemiology, public health or health sciences
- Experience recruiting participants for clinical research studies
- Experience following study procedures as laid out in study protocols
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy dealing with patients, staff and physicians
- Ability to communicate well with colleagues from various disciplines and external collaborators within a complex initiative
- Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Previous experience of working in a health institution and working with patients will be considered an asset
- Previous experience with data entry, literature searches and systematic reviews will be an asset Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
- Interact with other members of the team
- Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
- Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
- A valid Class 5 driver's license with proven good driving record (abstract required)
