Supervisor, Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention

Health Services - Public Health, CDIP, Tobacco, Cannabis and Vaping team

Contract Full Time


We are looking for a dynamic Supervisor to join our team and embrace delivering on health outcomes for our residents while building successful partnerships both internally, and with our community partners.

What you will do in this role:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Plan, develop, supervise, implement, and evaluate public health programs mandated under the Ontario Public Health Standards and related Tobacco, Vapour and Smoke, and Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction guidelines
  • Coach and mentor a high functioning team to ensure team contributes in a productive and positive manner
  • Facilitate evidenceinformed decision making processes through EndtoEnd Public Health Practice
  • Strong problem solving and ethical decision making skills
  • Manage change and support the organization's vision, strategic and operational objectives
  • Provide leadership and direction to reporting staff to ensure efficient, effective utilization of resources
  • Prepare, administer and monitor the team specific budgets
  • Provide guidance and ensure adherence to applicable legislation, policies, and standards
  • Participate in various divisional, interdepartmental and interagency committees
  • Facilitate implementation of mandatory programs; and educate the public and internal/external partners regarding the role of programs

What the role requires:
  • A Bachelor's degree from a health
  • related discipline or in a specialized health science area applicable to public health from a recognized university combined with a minimum of five years public health experience
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation, policies, and standards, public health and health promotion theories and principles
  • Strong knowledge of professional standards as directed by the regulatory body or professional organizations for the health professionals working in the team
  • Excellent skills in program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Strong research, data, analytical, problem solving and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Political awareness, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships
  • Ability to lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team towards delivering on program objectives with a customer/client focus

_ What is a nice to have:_

  • Previous public health supervisory experience

Location:
In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga
_ _worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.


Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, some flexibility as needed based on operational needs
