- This position works with the manufacturing team and engineers to build high quality industrial vacuum microwave dehydration equipment to Pharmaceutical and Food Equipment Standards.
- This position is responsible for completing work orders on time and on budget.
- Read and interpret workorders, engineer drawings, including GD&T notes to determine the specific welding requirements.
- Precision MIG and TIG sanitary weld/purge welds with stainless steel and aluminum.
- Verify and tag completed work.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workstation.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, shop tools and machinery.
- Keep a daily log of work.
- Adhere to the required safety practices and comply with all WorkSafe BC regulations (OHSR).
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions to the Shop Foreman or the Health & Safety Committee.
- Responsible to communicate with the Shop Foreman on supplies needed to complete workorders.
- Responsible to communicate to the Shop Foreman if timelines can't be met.
- Identify and communicate to the Shop Foreman any opportunities to improve effective and efficient production of parts.
- Weekly meetings with the Senior Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Engineers.
- Willingness to support the organization in tasks outside of the job description to meet deadlines.
- High school or equivalent is required.
- Class 5 clean driver's license with access to a car.
- CWB or Red Seal Welding Certification or equivalent experience.
- Forklift certification is required.
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in TIG/MIG welding.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fabrication shop.
- Experience with general shop tools.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Strong ability to manage time and multiple priorities to achieve high-quality deliverables and avoid bottlenecks.
- Professional etiquette (both written and verbal) with co-workers, vendors, customers and individuals visiting NuWave Research.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work positively and respectfully with co-workers.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods and navigate safely in an industrial environment (e.g. ladders, stairs, stationary and moving industrial equipment).
- Must be able to lift 22.7 kg/50 lb.
