Job Information and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Recruitment & Marketing, Domestic and International, the International Recruitment Specialist will:

  • Represent Saint Mary's in visits and career fairs to selected schools and at public functions in Canada and abroad, ensuring that prospective students, parents, teachers and counselors and others are provided with accurate, timely information about study in Canada and the features and benefits of attending Saint Mary's.
  • Conduct extensive planning, coordination and execution of events and school visits in new and existing international markets.
  • Provide mentorship and training support for other members of the student recruitment team regarding visits, career fairs and campus tours as needed for both international and domestic pipelines.
  • Contributes to the International Marketing and Recruitment Strategic Plan (annual) in collaboration with the Director.
  • Prepare reports for each international recruitment trip for review.
  • Liaise with government and education officials in Canada and abroad to promote Canada (and Saint Mary's) as an international student destination

Stakeholders include:
IRCC, Global Affairs, EduNova, language schools, NSISP, and other Canadian universities.

  • Develop systems to ensure that inquiries from prospective students are answered in a timely, personalized manner incorporating customer relationship management techniques (CRM) and service excellence standards as approved by the Director.
  • Facilitate campus visits for dignitaries, potential recruits and conducts campus tours.
  • Supervise, train and monitor the recruitment efforts of agents, Alumni Ambassadors and Coop students.
  • Develop and monitor the international marketing budget for submission and ongoing reporting to the Director.
  • Assist with market research to identify potential (new) countries and educational institutions for recruitment outreach.
  • Stay apprised of government initiatives/programs within Canada and internationally that could impact further market development (or risk current markets).

Experience and Education Requirements
To be the successful International Recruitment Specialist you will have:

  • Minimum of a four (4) year undergraduate degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years related experience, including two (2) years of international experience preferably in the education/marketing sector, and 23 years in an academic or professional environment.
  • Willing and permitted to travel internationally.
  • Knowledge of current policies and the ability to administer them.
  • An ability to work with diverse groups in a cross cultural environment.
  • Knowledge of recruitment practices and familiarity with recruitment technology.
  • Strong organizational and team building skills.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of how a university operates.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record is required.
  • May be required to provide a criminal record check.
  • Knowledge of a second language would be an asset.
