GIRLS DEVELOPMENTAL COACH
Located in the heart of the city, Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics is one of Canada's largest and most successful clubs with two operating facilities.
Home to the best climate in the country, Vancouver is a world-class, internationally-recognized city, perfect for those who love experiencing city life and the outdoors.
Phoenix Gymnastics has a strong recreational program inclusive to ages 0-100, while also consistently producing some of Canada's top gymnasts, many of whom represent the club and province and have become National Team members representing Canada at international competitions.
The Role:
- Regular coaching expectations within the decided schedule
- The ability to be a selfstarter when required, but still willing to follow directions from the WAG Head Coach in regards to the content and technique being taught to developmental athletes
- Plan, develop and implement training and practice sessions
- Nurture and develop all athletes' potential skills and abilities
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of athletes
- Analyze and evaluate athletes' performances and modify training programs as needed
- Attending competitions, training camps, etc. as requested
- Attending club and WAG program staff meetings & training sessions as requested
- Mentor and support in house coach development
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
What You Bring:
- Legally eligible to work and live in Canada
- Completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to hiring being confirmed
- NCCP WAG Comp Level 1 Certified or higher, or equivalent artistic gymnastics coach training (Trampoline certification is an asset)
- Previous experience coaching all levels in WAG
- Completion of the NCCP Courses: Respect In Sport, SafeSport, Mental Health In Sport, and Make Ethical Decisions, First Aid
- Completion of the "Commit to Kids" course during the first month of employment
- Clear, empathic, patient, and open communication skills
- Energetic, active and engaging attitude to create a positive and respectful training environment
- Ability to create and foster positive team and training environments
- Expresses a keen interest in being mentored to higher level coaching skills
