    Description

    Esri Canada has an exciting opportunity for a GIS Application Specialist, who will perform a leading role in implementing cutting edge GIS solutions based on Esri technology for customers in the utilities industry. Reporting to the Professional Services Manager, Utilities, you will contribute to the ongoing business operations of the company by effectively providing high-level delivery of assigned consulting projects and other client services.

    GIS Application Specialist responsibilities include:

    • Meet with customers to identify business objectives and/or problems that can be solved with GIS based solutions
    • Design creative GIS solutions focused on off the shelf Esri, ArcFM and other partner technology
    • Install, configure, and upgrade Esri and ArcFM technology including desktop, geodatabase, server, mobile and web components
    • Assist with migration strategies for version upgrades of ESRI and ArcFM technology
    • Provide database design expertise, application support and prototype/proof-of-concept development
    • Utilize technical writing skills for scoping, requirements gathering, design and build books
    • Lead technical workshop and technical knowledge transfer activities
    • Support project manager with monitoring and controlling technical activities throughout the complete life cycle of consulting assignments
    • Assist with the building, testing, documentation, installation, and training of customized applications integrated with Esri products
    • Work with clients to assist them during the implementation process of software.
    • Collaborate with project teams to manage client expectations and ensure project objectives are met
    • Contribute to needs analysis, functional requirements definition, and business solution needs as required
    • Assist in the preparation of proposals (e.g. RFPs, RFIs and RFQs)
    • Proactively pursue self-instruction on all relevant technical topics.

    Specific skill requirements:

    • University degree in geography, GIS, geomatics, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, or equivalent education and experience
    • 5+ years of experience in designing GIS based systems
    • 5+ years of experience working on projects in the utilities industry
    • Practical experience implementing GIS for electric, fibre water, and/or gas networks
    • ArcGIS Enterprise installation and configuration experience
    • Experience with data structuring/modeling, application design and consulting related to asset management, and work management systems as they relate to enterprise GIS.
    • Demonstrable skills developing documentation for system installation, configuration, and maintenance
    • Experienced in analyzing and documenting user needs requirements
    • Willing to travel to client sites or conferences around Canada and possibly the US in the future (currently, travelling is not required, but flexibility to travel up to 5% in the future is essential).

    Considered as assets for this position are the following:

    • Experience with the ArcGIS Utility Network Management Extension
    • Experience with ArcGIS Web Development APIs, Python, or Arcade
    • Experience configuring and deploying mobile and web applications based on Esri technology
    • Esri certification in Desktop, Enterprise Administration, Geodatabase Management, or ArcGIS Utility Network Configuration

    • Participer au développement, aux essais, à la documentation et à l'installation d'applications personnalisées reposant sur les produits d'Esri, et assurer la formation sur ces applications.
    • Travailler avec les clients afin de les assister dans la mise en œuvre de logiciels.
    • Collaborer avec les équipes de projet afin de répondre aux attentes des clients et d'atteindre les objectifs fixés.
    • Participer aux analyses des besoins, à la définition des exigences fonctionnelles et à la détermination des exigences de la solution d'affaires.
    • Participer à la préparation de documents de vente (comme des réponses aux demandes de propositions, de renseignements et de prix).
    • Veiller de façon proactive à ménager des périodes d'autoapprentissage sur tous les sujets pertinents.

    Formation, expérience et aptitudes nécessaires

    • Diplôme universitaire en géographie, en SIG, en géomatique, en génie électrique, en génie civil, en informatique, ou formation et expérience équivalentes.
    • Plus de cinq ans d'expérience dans la conception de systèmes basés sur les SIG.
    • Plus de cinq ans d'expérience de travail sur des projets dans le secteur des services publics.
    • Expérience pratique de la mise en œuvre de SIG pour des réseaux d'électricité, de fibre optique, d'aqueduc ou de gaz.
    • Expérience de l'installation et de la configuration d'ArcGIS Enterprise.
    • Expérience en structuration et modélisation des données, en conception d'applications et en services-conseils s'appliquant aux systèmes de gestion des actifs et des travaux dans le contexte des SIG d'entreprise.
    • Compétences démontrées dans l'élaboration de la documentation pour l'installation, la configuration et la maintenance de système.
    • Expérience en analyse et en documentation des besoins des utilisateurs.

    Aptitudes essentielles

    • Solides compétences en relations interpersonnelles, en établissement de relations et en gestion de temps.
    • Excellentes aptitudes en matière d'analyse, de résolution de problème et de prise de décisions.
    • Esprit d'équipe et aptitude démontrée à respecter les échéances.

    Compétences considérées comme des atouts

    • Expérience du module d'extension ArcGIS Utility Network Management.
    • Expérience avec les interfaces API de développement web d'ArcGIS, Python ou Arcade.
    • Expérience en configuration et en déploiement d'applications mobiles et web basées sur la technologie d'Esri.
