    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    As the Diagnostic Sonographer I for the ACH Cardiology Clinic, you are a member of the Cardiology multi-disciplinary team and play an integral role in echocardiographic diagnostic testing within the Cardiology Department. You will be responsible for performing Neonatal and Pediatric Echocardiographic examinations for both Alberta Children's Hospital inpatients and outpatients. The Diagnostic Sonographer is a pivotal member of the health care team, and you will have the opportunity to utilize your excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills to support optimal outcomes for your patient population. You will be expected to contribute to clinic process improvement and maintain professional practice including, but not limited to, ongoing professional development, encouragement of a positive and supportive work environment, and demonstration of accountability.To be successful in this role, you will need provision of patient and family centered care, proficient organizational, technical and computer skills, commitment to professional growth, excellent communication skills with patients, families, staff and Physicians.

    Description:

    As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

    Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

    Current Pediatric Echocardiography experience.Critical Care Experience.NICU/PICU Experience.To be successful in this, role you will need: Provision of patient and family centered care.
