What you willdo in the role
· Develop anetwork complement of Alternative Care providers and First Nation communitieswithin the agency's jurisdiction.
· Subscribe to the organizational mission, values,and philosophy of Kunuwanimano.
· Recruit,select, train, and support Alternative Care providers and families within theKunuwanimano Child & Family Services catchment area.
· Developand ensure the consistent adherence to an agency protocol for the placement ofa child(ren) in care placements.
· Evaluatethe quality and effectiveness of each Alternative Care placement.
· Ensure the development and delivery of culturallyappropriate, comprehensive orientation and training package for AlternativeCare providers.
· Assist in analyzes service issues and contributes tofacilitating positive change by advocating for and supporting the necessarysystemic changes.
· Communicates and explains Agency and Ministry policyto First Nations via regular contact and ongoing dialogue with communitymembers and First Nation staff as requested.
· Create a network of alternative caregivers to ensureproper supports are in place, as well as encouraging AC homes to utilize theirnetworks as supports.
· Establishes a schedule of regular meetings with theFirst Nations to identify and prioritize their organizational development andpolicy requirements related to service delivery and service integration andassists in the preparation of First Nation work plans to achieve these requirements.

What you bringto the table
· Completionof BSW, (Native Specialty preferred) or Diploma in Childcare and/or SocialServices may also be considered.
· A minimumof two (2) years' experience providing direct service to children and familiesis required; preferably with First Nation families.
· Knowledgeof and ability to apply relevant legislation related to Alternative Careincluding (Part IV, CYFSA)
· Thoroughknowledge of and ability to evaluate Foster Care and Children in Care standardsand programs.
· Excellentcommunication, organizational, evaluation and problem-solving skills
· Excellentassessment and training skills required for the recruitment, selection, andtraining of Alternative Care providers.
· Experiencein marketing and public relations would be an asset.
· Required,of critical importance, is a sensitivity, respect and knowledge of the FirstNation communities and Aboriginal culture, and in keeping with the teaching ofthe seven Grandfathers.
· Ableto speak a Native language is an asset.
· Abilityto work flexible hours, be on-call and work unplanned overtime.
· Mustbe able to travel, possess a valid "G" Ontario driver`s licence and have dailyaccess to a reliable vehicle with $2 million rider liability insurance coverage.
· Mustproduce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
