COORDINATOR, PARKS CAPITAL ASSETS
The incumbent is primarily responsible for the preparation, coordination and administration of parks
capital, repair, and replacement projects, including assistance with procurement of maintenance and
repair contracts to be administered by Public Works staff. The incumbent produces technical reports,
specifications, budget estimates and condition assessments as they relate to City parks and property
infrastructure. Other responsibilities include overseeing the activities and performance of contractors,
consultants, and occasionally providing technical advice to municipal work crews providing services
to the Corporation.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary Degree/Diploma in a related field.
  • Membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
- and Certified Engineering Technologist Certification would be an asset.
  • Five years of combined, recent and relevant experience in the fields of general construction and/or
- project management, preferably in a municipal environment.
  • Must have established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software
database software.

  • Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with
construction, building technologies and related parks infrastructure. Awareness of sustainable
practices and technologies is an asset.

  • Indepth knowledge of industry standard means, methods, materials and equipment employed in
construction.

  • Demonstrable ability to read and understand technical drawings, specification and shop drawings.
  • Able to analyze construction budgets and estimates.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, AODA, standard CCDC construction
documents, standard consulting contracts, applicable laws and regulations, and construction
contract administration.

  • Proven ability to work independently and reliably on assigned duties, prioritizing activities,
managing time and effectively resolving problems.

  • Must be willing and able to work irregular hours, on weekends and on holidays as required and
- respond to after work emergencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and maintain effective business relationships, and to deal
- professionally and courteously with employees and the public.
  • Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must be willing to participate in, Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification, defensive driving
- training and any other pertinent training when offered by the Corporation.
  • Must possess current confined space entry and working at heights certificates, or be willing to
- obtain when required by the Corporation.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, decision making, organizational, communication (written and oral
- in English) and customer service skills.
  • Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to read, understand and clearly communicate written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for use in the performance of duties and possess a valid Class "G"
Ontario Driver's Licence. A clean driving record is preferred.

Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and an annual salary
range of $69,323.80 to $77,022.40 based on 35 hours per week.
