The Safety and Licensing (S&L) team is part of Environmental Remediation Management (ERM) organisation at CNL. The S&L team provides safety analysis to demonstrate that operations can be executed safely with respect to nuclear safety across all CNL sites. The team identifies risks and assesses potential upset conditions, determining dose consequences resulting from these conditions.
Safety and licensing is incorporated at every stage of a facility lifecycle. As a result, ERM S&L is involved in the design of new nuclear facilities, ensuring safe operations of existing nuclear facilities, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
Safety analysis is not field specific, often requiring analysts to have broad understanding of multiple fields (e.g. mechanical, electrical, and chemical). Safety analysts work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary group.
The opportunity will enable engineering students to use their skills to address operational challenges and gain experience in techniques that can be applied across industry.
