    Description: The Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a 0.42-year appointment. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2024. This 5-month position is with the Wheeler group in the Department of Chemistry ). The candidate is expected to independently carry out research projects in microfluidics and single-cell bioinformatics. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for designing and operating micfrofluidic devices, designing and executing single-cell transriptomic and proteomic experiments, and developing custom bioinformatic treatments and interpretations of the data that is generated in those experiments. Deep expertise with bioinformatics as applied to sing-cell analysis is a requirement for this position. In addition to experimental work, the candidate will assist in training students, liase with academic and industry collaborators, and contribute to communications (papers and presentations at conferences).     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education – PhD in Biochemistry or related

    Experience – At least five years experience in microfluidics and single-cell bioinformatics

    Skills – Ability to work with trainees and collaborators, proficiency with R, Python, StarAligner, edgeR, ggplot2/gplots, MaxQuant, REVIGO, and Cytoscape

    Other – Experience communicating with researchers with diverse backgrounds (chemistry, engineering, biology, medicine)
