Reporting to the Wholesale Power Marketing Section Head, the Market Access & Regulatory Affairs Officer will be responsible for
providing expertise and oversight of Canadian and US regulatory and state governmental affairs as they relate to Manitoba Hydro's
wholesale business.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Follow and report on energy developments in Canada and the US that may impact on Manitoba Hydro's access to wholesale
markets.

  • Recommend strategic initiatives in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and other markets to advance
Manitoba Hydro's interests and to ensure continued favorable access.

  • Monitor market access risks from a legal, technical, and marketdriven perspective and present strategies to manage the
risks.

  • Represent Manitoba Hydro on MISO stakeholder and other industry committees, including advocating on behalf of Manitoba
Hydro.

  • Maintain and enhance relationships with other market participants who have mutual interests in MISO's and other markets'
processes, pursuing and promoting joint action when desirable.

  • Contribute to the development and interpretation of the MISO Tariff and Business Practices Manuals which may affect
Manitoba Hydro's wholesale markets.

  • Provide support and research regulatory issues and developments which may impact Manitoba Hydro's transmission portfolio
and its access to both long-term and short-term wholesale markets.

  • Liaise with industry & stakeholders to promote Manitoba Hydro's clean power.
  • Oversee and manage Manitoba Hydro's US consultants and advisors.
  • Responsible for obtaining all necessary export permits.
  • Lead the development and implementation of divisional strategies for maintaining and enhancing Manitoba Hydro's access to
its wholesale markets.


_ Qualifications:
_


  • A fouryear Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics or other relevant discipline from an institute of recognized standing,
with a minimum of six years of directly related experience.
OR

  • A twoyear Diploma in Business Administration or other relevant discipline from an institute of recognized standing, with a
minimum of eight years of directly related experience.
OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

industry trends, transmission tariffs and related business practices.

  • An understanding of the operation of Manitoba Hydro's generation system including hydro system capabilities and limitations
and Manitoba Hydro's transmission interconnections into the wholesale marketplaces.

  • Excellent understanding of the international wholesale power marketing business and evolving energy landscape including
market drivers, industry trends, transmission tariffs and related business practices and ability to identify opportunities and risks
at early stages.

  • Possess a strong but pleasant and tactful personality and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be capable of adapting to rapidly changing conditions both within Manitoba Hydro and the energy marketplace.
  • Must be prepared for frequent travel outside of the Province of Manitoba, and within the USA, for industry conferences and
stakeholder engagement.


_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $
$91,582.66-$125,470.80 Annually / $47.79-$65.48 Hourly.
