WHO YOU ARE


As an integral part of our interdisciplinary team and reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services, you are a regulated member of The Newly Institute team.

You are responsible for intakes, therapy, group facilitation, case management.

You believe in the use of a bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment model in combination with medical-assisted therapies to help clients overcome deeply embedded traumas that prevent them from living fully in their everyday lives.

You want to be a part of our pioneering rotational treatment model and provide intensive and short-term therapy.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide individual counselling and trauma therapy utilizing Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to improve health and to promote personal development resulting in changes to substance use, and addictive behaviors
  • Efficient and effective clinical assessment skills (mental health history, risk assessment, trauma, and addictions)
  • Facilitate psychoeducation groups (Based on ACT, Sleep Education, DBT Skills, Mindfulness, Addictions, and Family Support)
  • Provide resourcebased interventions, case management and coordination, transition, or discharge planning to assist individuals experiencing problems related to cooccurring addiction and mental health
  • Provide information and education to clients and their family about the nature of addiction and cooccurring mental health problems, treatment, coping and management strategies, and skills needed to avoid relapse
  • Participate in weekly case consultation & complex case discussions with an interdisciplinary team including providing consultation to clinical teams on addiction and concurrent disorders

WHAT YOU BRING

Education:
A bachelor's degree with a specialization in addiction counselling, social work, or a related field is required. Certified and current registration with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) is required. Must hold own professional liability insurance. An ART certification is preferred.


Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the field of addiction and mental health is preferred. Experience in comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment/triage and treatment is required. Experience with individual, group, and family psychosocial intervention and counseling is preferred. Excellent case management and assessment skills are required. Equivalencies of experience may be considered.


Functional Knowledge:

Advanced skillset in communication, ability to demonstrate continuous learning, professional self-development, and excellent case management and assessment skills required.


Technical:
Proficiency in computers, Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is required.


Background Check:
A clear Criminal Background check with Vulnerable Sector check is required to start.
