Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Supervisor, Educational Technology, the Web Conferencing Educational Technology Specialist is responsible for advising and consulting with faculty members, contract instructors and teaching assistants on the use of web conferencing technologies in teaching and learning activities at Carleton (including Hyflex and fully online courses).


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Individual initiative is essential to keep current with changing technology and practices and failure to do so can prevent the incumbent from offering effective advice to users.
  • Must have effective project facilitation and organizational skills, along with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal and problemsolving skills, as well as good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, tact and discretion are essential.
  • Adaptability and attention to detail will be the key to this position, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through:

  • The completion of a three-year diploma or degree in a communication arts program, such as television broadcasting and completion of a certificate in interactive media management (or similar).
  • Five years of experience in media webcasting, production, and multimedia management.
  • Experience with multimedia, video editing software, media, or digital asset management, learning management systems, web/videoconferencing, and media management systems would be an asset.
