about the role:


This position will be responsible for participating in the planning, development, evaluation, and facilitation of group programming for 2SLGBTQcommunities, and take a lead in outreach and promotion to recruit participants.


scope of the mandate:


This position is responsible for implementing weekly drop-ins and sessional groups, including outreach and participant recruitment, facilitation, and evaluation of various programs in accordance with an annual planning cycle.

Participation and promotion in the greater community is required to ensure and maintain the profile of CBI community programs and continually build relationships within the community.


day to day responsibilities:


Group Facilitation

  • Facilitates targeted recruitment processes designed to attract participants aligned to specific program needs.
  • Works with team members to develop, implement and evaluate group programming.
  • Prepare meal plans, shopping list for purchasing ingredients and shop for daily programming.
  • Acts as a resource for program participants, proactively providing information and responding to requests on time.
  • Establishes trust and credibility with program participants and partner agencies in order to maintain effective relationships.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and encouragement to group participants.
  • Addresses any issues with group participants, including but not limited to breaches of policy and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with Sherbourne programs to ensure service is provided collaboratively.
  • Participates in any planning and activity, with Program Manager to plan and activate fund development.

Administration

  • Produces relevant written materials.
  • Presents and promotes the project at various community events and conferences as directed.
  • Ensures adequate data and statistics are collected in the daily groups.
  • Attends and participates in Sherbourne meetings as requested by the management.

To thrive in this role, you'll need

education/experience/skills/abilities:


  • Bachelor's degree in social work/social sciences or related field and three years of experience facilitating community initiatives or an equivalent blend.
  • Familiarity with Toronto's diverse 2SLGBTQ communities
  • Knowledge of the community services, programs, and resources available to 2SLGBTQ communities in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with a variety of partners, including volunteers, youth and adult community members and service providers.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate highquality and creative inperson and virtual workshops and training for the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to reach out to marginalized populations, create, and develop effective partnerships.
