Description of the role
As a Senior Financial Analyst, your primary role involves analyzing financial data, assessing the company's past and current performance, and providing recommendations to support informed decision-making by management. You will be responsible for budget analysis and analyzing the firm's performance to identify opportunities and potential risks for the business. Additionally, you will handle various accounting tasks to ensure compliance with accounting standards, industry regulations such as trusts, provide financial reports, and performance analysis.
Main responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze periodic financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement. Identify financial trends, variances, and anomalies, and provide recommendations to enhance financial performance.
Budgeting: Prepare and analyze periodic budgets. Identify variances and provide recommendations to management, communicate variances effectively to professionals and/or managers to achieve desired results. Collaborate with project managers and operational stakeholders to assess the financial impact of current and proposed initiatives. Stay updated on best budget management practices and participate in their implementation within the organization.
Financial Analysis and Improvement Communication: Conduct in-depth financial analyses to assess the profitability of business activities, identify opportunities for operational efficiency improvement, and support budget planning. Analyze budget variances and track them to guide resource allocation decisions.
Trust Compliance and Tax Compliance Management: Ensure accounting monitoring of trusts as per Canadian provincial regulations. Validate and authorize trust transactions. Ensure company's fiscal obligations compliance by preparing and submitting tax returns, participating in tax audits, and offering tax-related advice.
Management Support: Provide financial and analytical support to management by assisting in strategic decision-making, developing financial forecasts, evaluating financial risks and opportunities. Recommend cost reduction initiatives.
Investment Evaluation: Assess investment opportunities by conducting profitability analyses and risk assessments to guide investment decision-making.
Pricing of Services Evaluation and Establishment: Conduct competitive monitoring of service prices and costs within the firm.
Reports and Presentations: Prepare detailed financial reports, strategic presentations, and ad hoc analyses for management and internal stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
