    Senior Air Quality Consultant (P.Eng.)SUMMARYUsing fundamental technical skills, analytical abilities, and up-to-date regulatory knowledge, provide complete customer-oriented air quality permitting, air dispersion modelling, and environmental compliance solutions to assist clients in the industrial and commercial sectors in Canada.

    Develop and maintain high quality client relations through project management and personnel management.

    Ensure that projects are completed correctly, on time and budget, and that quality projects are made available for the assigned team.

    Help business growth through sales & business development activities.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.


    Technical Responsibilities:
    Conduct air dispersion modelling analysis in accordance with project requirements and/or published guidelines.

    Calculate air emissions, determine required control technologies, and document process information to ensure client operations, and work practices are in accordance with all applicable regulations.

    Prepare air permit applications (ECAs, EASRs), permit amendment applications, standard exemptions, source inventories, and emission fee calculations for submittal to state regulatory agencies for industrial clients.

    Implement sustainability projects for clients, including GHG inventory development, disclosures, and climate strategy.

    Assist clients with correspondences with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) and other regulatory agencies, including assistance with enforcement related communications.

    Perform odour screening, modeling, and abatement evaluations.
    Develop strategy for regulatory compliance for clients.
    Provide value-added consulting services to clients.
    Understand existing regulations and continually review new and proposed regulations as they relate to industrial clients.
    Remain current regarding the latest developments in air pollution control technologies.2.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Directly supervise 1-3 employees in Environmental Consulting.
    Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.3.


    Other Responsibilities:
    Monitor, verify, and ensure the technical accuracy and quality of project related work.
    Coordinate efforts of project team to ensure timely completion of project, invoicing review, and maintaining project budgets.
    Maintain business development relationships through sales calls and professional networking.

    Promote client stewardship by being attentive to the needs of existing clients and by encouraging consultant staff to look for business opportunities with clients.

    Develop sales proposals for existing and prospective clients.
    Identify new marketing opportunities and assist business development staff with appropriate literature development, communication, and follow-up.
    Attend and present papers at conferences, and prepare regulatory updates and present luncheon seminars.

    Communicate with staff the decisions/goals of management so that the staff can help adhere to company goals while meeting personal goals.

    Ensure proper utilization and billing of consulting staff.
    Provide mentoring and coaching for junior consultants.(The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all-inclusive.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B. S.) in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental/Civil Engineering, and or related Atmospheric/Environmental Science from four-year college or university; and at least five to eight years direct work experience in Canada.

    Must have regulatory (Canada), industry, and technical knowledge relating to permit applicability, emission inventories, air dispersion modelling, and permitting requirements.

    Experience on odour assessments and odour modelling, while not mandatory, is desirable.
    Must have computer literacy, including basic programming word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft office software package.
    LICENSES / ACCREDITATIONProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed by the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Candidates whose applications have already been submitted and are currently under review by the PEO may also apply. A valid Drivers License for the province of Ontario.
    LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
