    Description:

    We are looking to bring on a permanent hire or "contract to hire" underwriting analyst to support the Payments Solutions Team. This is a growing 4 person team primarily responsible for shadow underwriting ISO merchant applications, conducting due diligence on potential new clients and partners, preparing risk reviews for submissions to management, managing and mitigating the ongoing credit risk of issuing, acquiring, and De (Digital Enablement) client portfolios and assisting Management with tasks during peak times. They will be working closely with other departments such as Compliance, Fraud, Sales, Operations, and Product.


    •Manage existing credit-related policies and processes and assist with the development of future ones


    •Act as subject matter expert and provide credit risk related education to partners and internal teams


    •Review of new partner documents to ensure compliance and alignment with PTC policies.


    •Responsible for the shadow underwriting of acquiring ISO merchants and approve within delegated authority limit


    •Responsible for specific client underwriting and onboarding, and preparing risk reports for approval by management


    •Responsible for ensuring merchant acquiring ISOs and issuing and DE clients are providing items they are responsible for such as periodic reviews, updating policies and procedures, etc.


    •Liase with other teams such as Sales, Compliance, Fraud, Operations, and Product to develop and ensure alignment with process and work closely to accomplish tasks


    •Cross trained to provide backup coverage for Sr. Underwriting staff


    •Remain current on latest developments within industry and market trends to secure competitive advantage


    •Establish and maintain relationships with merchant ISO partners and issuing and DE Clients, provide World Class Service as it aligns with our vision


    •As needed, assist in Ad hoc Reporting, research and Analysis.


    •As needed, assist with event review and risk assessment

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    Must Haves;

    Post Secondary Education

    5+ years' Experience in underwriting, due diligence, credit adjudication or credit risk analysis

    Proven experience working with credit risk, financial and transactional data to discern trends, and provide recommendations (Financial statement analysis)

    Strong written and verbal communication.

    Well-versed in MS Suite including intermediate to advance excel

    *Experience above paired with one of the following;

    a. ) within merchant services (Moneris, Global Payments, TD Merchant Services)

    b.) within payments (FI's Payments team, or wire payments / swift team)

    c.) commercial underwriting within the banking experience (mid-market and small business)

    Nice to have

    -Experience in the payments industry

    -Experience vetting merchants (past exposure, credit score, material exposure, risk of delinquency, risk of failure) with a focus on merchant risk

    -Exposure to regulatory agencies and card associations ( Visa, Mastercard, Interac, AMEX, UnionPay)
