Oakley Industries is an automotive supplier who assembles wheels and tires for our customer. We currently have eight plants located in Canada and the United States.


Summary/Objective


The material specialist position compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas by performing the following duties.


2nd Shift 2:00pm-10:30pm

Essential Functions

  • Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.
  • Directs warehouse staff to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas.
  • Examines material received, verifies parts numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
  • Compares work ticket specifications to material used at work stations to verify appropriate assignment.
  • Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records including material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
  • Arrange for repair and assembly of material or part.
  • Monitor and control movement of material and parts on automated conveyor system.
  • Move or transport materials manually or using handling equipment.
  • Manage obsolete or damaged materials.
  • Safety and security responsibilities include ensuring trailers are secure with proper locks, monitoring material with daily counts, monitoring trucks entering and leaving the property or any unusual vehicles around the premises.
  • Assist with training new employees and cross training as outlined in the training procedures.
  • Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office is preferred.
