We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated
Camp Counsellor who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment; to our clients, families, and each other.
The
Camp Counsellor will be responsible for working with the Summer Camp staff and the Lead Camp Counselor(s) to deliver a Safe, fun experience rich, physically active, and educational day camp experience.
non-unionized, full-time, temporary position. The contract end date is
August 16, 2024. The rate of pay is
$16.55 per hour. Hours are 35 per week. Multiple positions are available.
**Key Responsibilities: - Implementation of the daily camp programs for children ages 6-12 years.
- Ensure the health and safety of the children participating in the camp program.
- Create a fun, experiencerich, physically active, and educational day camp experience for all campers.
- Monitor and provide care for the children participating in the camp program.
- Provide and actively participate in all camprelated activities (i.e. camp trips, games, crafts).
- Implement required tasks, such as set up and cleanup and other daytoday camp operations as directed by the Lead Camp Counselor, and Supervisor.
- Act as a positive role model and leader at all times.
- Encourage camp participants to follow proper hygiene and cleanliness.
- Build positive relationships with camp staff, participants, parents and/or caregivers.
- To follow all policies and procedures as required.
What you will bring:
- Post Secondary student in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker, Recreation Leadership, Social Service Worker, Social Work, or a Social Service field.
- Applicant must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Applicant must have been registered as a fulltime student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a fulltime basis in the next academic year.
- Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
- First aid/CPR training.
