Admissions Officer

(1 Permanent Position and 1 Term Position)

Salary Range:
$52,195.66 to $70,617.66


Location: 7 Fultz Blvd.

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)

The term position begins as soon as possible to September 5, 2025 or the day before the employee replaced returns to work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Make independent admission decisions to admit or refuse applicants to MITT full-time programs based on established prerequisites, college guidelines, and enrolment numbers. Accountable for decisions which commit the college to a binding agreement of admission.
  • Assess academic credentials at the secondary and postsecondary levels, including the assessment of diverse educational backgrounds from education systems worldwide.
  • Authenticate official documents according to established Admission procedures.
  • Recommend alternative academic pathways and options to applicants who do not meet program admission requirements.
  • Process admissionsrelated requests, such as program reentry, deferral and withdrawal.
  • Work closely with the finance team to coordinate details for funded students to ensure access to funding from sponsors or scholarships.
  • Administer program wait lists and monitor seat capacity quotas.
  • Perform a full cycle of tasks for MITT High School including but not limited to: attending recruitment events, assessing, admitting and registering eligible students, prearrival communications etc.
  • Support other secondary program admission and administration as required (e.g. DSFM Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine, secondary access programs).
  • Work with the Associate Registrar, Coordinator, Admissions and other members of the Admissions team to identify process and procedural challenges and contribute to finding departmental and interdepartmental efficiencies and improvements in admission policies, regulations, practices and procedures.
  • Provide admissions knowledge and training to Admission Assistants and practicum students.
  • Ensure adherence to college and legal requirements regarding the privacy and confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Research, develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of current and accurate information related to foreign credential and educational system analysis; determine equivalency for admission purposes.
  • Maintain a highlevel of knowledge regarding MITT's programs, admissions policies and procedures in order to provide outstanding service.
  • Manage the reentry process for previously withdrawn students who want to return to complete their program.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities related to credential assessment and international or domestic education.

Required Qualifications and Experience:


  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
  • Post Secondary degree, preferably in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience working in a problem solving or assessment capacity.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to understand complex situations, predict outcomes, and determine best course of action.
  • Experience providing high level service to a diverse clientele in an office, service or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary operations, program offerings, and admissions policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software such as Adobe.
  • Accurate keyboarding skills at a minimum 40 words per minute

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:


  • Training/experience in directly related activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Canadian and International educational systems.
  • Experience assessing both domestic and international secondary and postsecondary credentials and academic documentation in an admission office setting.
  • Knowledge of MITT policies & procedures as they relate to admissions.
  • Experience working with both domestic and international students.
  • Experience working with a student information system or admissions system.
  • Experience with video communication software (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
