    Description
    McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. is looking for a Structural Engineer with to join our team at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC. Prepare detailed structural designs from concept, tender, permit, and construction for commercial, recreational, municipal, industrial, and residential buildings, using a variety of structural materials (concrete, timber, mass timber, steel, etc)

    Periodically travel to project sites on an as-required basis for 1⁄2 day or 1-day site visits, typically for data collection, review of construction or attendance at coordination or design review meetings, some out of town travel may be required.

    Use building structural knowledge and construction techniques to come up with solutions to potential design or on-site issues
    Review existing building structural elements and prepare structural assessment reports
    Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other specialty consultants
    Complete structural site reviews/field investigation
    Carry out contract administration duties
    Assist in the preparation of technical proposal material for structural projects
    Evaluate the quality of technical design and supports activities which assure a high level of technical quality throughout the firm
    Minimum Bachelor's Degree specializing in structural design/ engineering from a recognized university
    Registration in other western provinces and territories an asset
    Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in the building construction industry
    Strong leadership, technical writing skills, and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
    Ability to engage in creative and critical solutions independently and in a team environment
    Manage team to meet project budget and schedule
    Technically proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk CADD/Revit, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project
    Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred
    Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, Etabs, SAFE
    Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
    Proven track record of project management skills and experience
    Strong knowledge of building codes
    Comprehensive knowledge of building structural systems, constructability, materials and industry associated standards
    Evaluation of design quality and supporting activities to assure a high level of technical quality throughout the firm
    Scale process, design and effort as required by various roles on projects
    Hold a valid driver's license and be willing to undergo security screening
