Opportunity


MacEwan University is seeking an individual for a full-time continuing opportunity as Communications Specialist with the Office of the University Registrar.


This position is responsible for the development and coordination of a comprehensive communications plan for the OUR, development and maintenance of web content and student communications, and editing the Academic Calendar.

The specialist will work collaboratively with all units within the OUR and provide strategic direction for improving external and internal communications, and support policy development.

The role will consult with external departments as needed, to develop a holistic understanding of institutional changes and contribute to communication plans to inform students and staff.


Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Creating, upholding, and maintaining the OUR Communications Strategy that aligns with the university's overall strategic vision.
  • Working closely with OUR staff and management to identify promotional and communication requirements and recommend suitable solutions and tactics to support initiative(s), while ensuring alignment with the department, division, and broader institution's standards, policies, practices, and strategy.
  • Creating and executing communications plans to communicate with key stakeholders, including MacEwan students, applicants, departments, faculty and staff.
  • Creating and coordinating communication materials and executing supporting tactics.
  • Managing the OUR's publicfacing TV loop, including writing and editing content, graphic design, and operating Digital Signage software.
  • Providing support for governance and policy work.
  • Assisting with creating new and revising existing policy documents. Attending consultation meetings and extract/determine relevant information to include in policy drafts/revisions.
  • Developing and coordinating change management plans for newly published, updated, or rescinded policy documents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or other related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in a communications position.
  • Experience in a postsecondary environment would be an asset.
  • Equivalences may be considered.
