Opportunity:


MacEwan University is seeking a Strategic Coordinator for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Office of the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, and Chief Finance Officer.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Administration (VPFA), you will collaborate across portfolio departments to develop and facilitate initiatives and project plans, and manage VPFA-led, institution-wide, high-profile projects, often with a significant external engagement and communications component.

In this role, you will interact and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels across the institution to build, maintain and foster strong working relationships, to effectively coordinate responses and implement solutions.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing coordination, research, analysis, recommendations, reporting, and response on a wide variety of current and emerging issues, ensuring the VPFA is apprised of relevant items of importance for review and consideration;
  • Collaborating on communications and crossportfolio projects and initiatives between the offices of the VPFA, University Relations and the President;
  • Representing the VPFA on institutional and divisional committees and a wide variety of complex, multidepartment initiatives and projects;
  • Providing leadership, direction, and coordination of strategic planning functions;
  • Providing support to the VPFA in drafting and coordinating relevant Executive Council (EC), Dean's Council (DC) and executive level briefings and materials;
  • Developing and maintaining an overall project management framework, and leading project teams to develop integrated change management and communication plans;
  • Creating, executing, and maintaining full project life cycle ownership from initiation through to completion, including project capacity assessment, stakeholder engagement, business process analysis, risk identification and management, and change management;
  • Monitoring information, logistics, key milestones, deliverables and reporting on projects;
  • Implementing evaluation processes to assess project results and lessons learned;
  • Contributing to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and practices;
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, briefing notes, requirements documentation and presentations to various stakeholders;
  • Drafting and preparing recommendations for presentation to senior level management and government departments;
  • Conducting detailed stakeholder assessments to ascertain change impacts and needs to tailor messages, actions, and approaches to different audiences;
  • Developing internal communications for strategic priorities and emergent issues;
  • Working collaboratively with the Office of Communications and Marketing to develop key messages, briefing documents, correspondence, reports, and presentations;
  • Developing and implementing detailed change management strategies, activities, and materials; and
  • Integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices into all project activities.
