Summer 2024 Internship

Your internship at Canam

Your mandate will be to assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent with the management and supervision of a structural steel erection project, while being based full time onsite. Looking for interns locally situated in Peterborough, Ontario.

Your tasks will include:

• Collect data on site and update the construction schedule (MS Project, Smartsheet);
• Produce erection progress and site daily reports (AutoDesk Construction, Trimble Connect);
• Assist the Site superintendent with quality control;
• Follow up on the delivery schedule and validate delivery slips;
• Participate in coordination meetings with the engineering, detailing and fabrication team;
• Attend on-site coordination meetings with the general contractor;
• Assist the steel erector in repair request (field works and deficiencies);
• Assist with health and safety recordings.

• Civil/Building Engineering Bachelors, (Preferably in third or fourth year)
• Familiarity with MS Project, Smartsheet, AutoDesk Construction, Trimble Connect, Bluebeam;
• Autonomy and ability to manage priorities.
• Willingness to progress.
• Ability to drive.
• Candidates must be willing to travel to the assigned Construction Site. Travel and accommodation by Canam, if required.
• Possess previous CO-OP working experience, or similar/equivalent working experience.
