The CHEO Eating Disorder Research Team has an immediate requirement for a Research Assistant. We are seeking a full-time (minimum 0.8 Full time equivalent).


Our team is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant that will be involved in the day-to-day activities involved in the conduct of research including, but not limited to, the creation and maintenance of research files according to study guidelines, the collection, scoring and coding of research information, patient recruitment including screening and obtaining informed consents, REB and grant submissions, manuscript formatting, submission and revisions, searching and summarizing literature, and creation and modification of slides for presentations.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the research coordinator/ lab manager/ affiliated scientists, the Research

Assistant will:

  • Assist with REB and/or grant submissions and updates to those submissions as needed
  • Assist with manuscript formatting, submissions and/or revisions
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize relevant information
  • Assist with creation and/or modification of slides for presentations
  • Assist with systematic reviews as needed, including citation screening, data abstraction, quality assessments and data synthesis
  • Assist as needed with other administrative duties related to ongoing research
  • Be responsible for patient recruitment including screening and obtaining informed consents
  • Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of research files according to study guidelines (Good
Clinical Practice Guidelines)

  • Be responsible for keeping an inventory of research measures and relaying information to the ordering agent
  • Be responsible for the collection, scoring, and coding of research information.
  • Will assist in the database design and be responsible for the maintenance of the databases and the data dictionary
  • Be responsible for data entry and data integrity
  • Identifying children and their families eligible to be recruited to the study
  • Collect follow up data
  • Create and maintain research and project files
  • Be responsible for the collection, scoring, and coding of research information
  • Perform various administrative duties
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • College or University undergraduate degree in a healthrelated field (Essential)
  • Minimum 1 year of research experience working on a Clinical Trial (Essential) preferably a Regulated Trial (volunteer acceptable)
  • Understanding of research design, procedures, guidelines and standards governing clinical research including Personal Health Information Protection Act (Essential)
  • Data management experience (Essential)
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office) (Essential)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism and team skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work independently (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Clinic setting work within hospital; exposure to children and parents and/or caregivers.
  • Flexibility to work in a hybrid work model that would include both remote work and onsite work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligible to work in Canada;
  • Compliance with CHEO RI's Universal COVID19 Vaccination Policy; and
  • Police Record Check.
