We are looking for a
Manager, Finance to join our Toronto Campus
.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the accounting/finance staff members including the Accounting Assistant, Junior Accounting Assistants, General Accountant, and other staff assigned under this role.
  • Review of all General Ledgers (GL) and maintain accurate GL for all Hanson and related entities.
  • Accurate monthend close, maintain all balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Monthly reporting and analysis of performance against budget and forecast and preparing presentations for Management.
  • Manage and review the weekly AP, expenses, commissions, and refunds. Monthly reporting of expenses.
  • Recording of monthly revenue and associated expense following company policies and Canadian GAAP.
  • Accurate tracking and reporting of all fixed asset related activities for Hanson campuses and related entities (tracking of approved project spend, maintenance of fixed asset register, recording of disposals, depreciation, reconciliations to GL).
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting.
  • Releasing of payments in ScotiaConnect and ensuring payments are done appropriately.
  • Assist and support the annual audit process.
  • Handle HST and PST returns.
  • Support preparation of corporate tax return.
  • Tracking of scholarships and contactors payments and filing of T4A and T5s.
  • Development of tools to support the capture and deployment of data to support decision making.
  • Support improving the internal control process of Hanson and related entities and maintaining controls.
  • Support the development and maintenance of scorecards for the business entities.
  • Support the Director, Finance and the accounting/finance team in meeting team goals.
  • Other duties assigned.

What You Will Bring

  • Postsecondary degree in Business specializing in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field.
  • Active CPA, CA, CGA or CMA licence is required.
  • 3+ years of experience working in finance/accounting preferably at management level.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail/accuracy, ability to effectively multitask, and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in an environment of shifting priorities.
  • Highly collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as a member of a larger team, and the ability to influence others.
  • A high degree of integrity and reliability.
  • Knowledge of software implementation will be great to have.
  • Other skills considered an asset includes experience with Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to articulate a concise story around business drivers, financial data, and potential implications on future results coupled with actionable recommendations.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement and learning.
  • Extremely proactive with the ability to handle new situations as they arise.
