Key Responsibilities


Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, performs mechanical and building repairs, furniture moves, grounds keeping and janitorial duties for Regina Police Service buildings and facilities.


  • Operates/assists in the operating, monitoring, servicing and repair of the heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification equipment. Test, analyze and treat boiler feed water supply to both hot water heating boilers, cooling systems and steam boiler.

This includes:

  • Monitoring the daily operation, recording, temperatures, pressures, supply and return line temperatures of operating units (hot water heating boilers, steam boiler, refrigeration).
  • Check, monitor and service emergency generator, Fire Alarm Control Panel, fire pull stations, firing range supply unit and range filter (lead removal), Cell area supply air unit, fan units, carbon monoxide sensors and detectors, Snomatic heating unit, heating fan unit, wet and dry sprinkler systems, pumps and related valves, exhaust fan units, make up air units,sump pumps and overhead doors, etc.
  • Performs building repairs, plumbing, minor electrical problems; repair or replace ceiling tiles, stair treads, cracks-dents or holes in drywall, large and small painting jobs, minor construction/demolition of interior walls, cleaning and servicing of ventilation equipment.
  • Performs furniture moves; desks, filing cabinets and sets up conference rooms (tables & chairs).
  • Performs grounds keeping, including cutting, fertilizing and edging lawn, pick up garbage, leaves, care of flower beds, watering trees and shrubs.
  • Snow removal, shoveling snow, spreading sand and ice melt. Driving skid steer.
  • Answers pages and deliveries at loading dock, escorts and assists related service providers as necessary.
  • Other related duties as required.

Competencies

  • Certification from Boiler and Pressure Vessels Branch for Fireman's Certificate and Refrigeration Operator's Certificate with knowledge of safe working requirements, including WHIMIS and OH&S.
  • Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools; handle cleaning products and operate various equipment to carry out cleaning routines and procedures.
  • Must possess physical strength, mobility and flexibility to perform duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to make sound decisions/judgement calls for the repair, maintenance and monitoring of building equipment.
  • Must be willing to work days, weekends & holidays and be able to work with minimum supervision and within a team.
  • Must possess valid Class 5 Novice 1 (minimum) drivers' license.

Salary:
$60,970.00-$73,158.00 per year
